London Stock Exchange Debuts Blockchain Platform for Private Funds
The London Stock Exchange Group (LSEG) has taken a decisive step into the blockchain era with the launch of its Digital Markets Infrastructure (DMI), a platform designed to streamline private fund transactions. The system, built on Microsoft Azure, completed its inaugural live transaction this week, marking a shift toward tokenization and accelerated settlement in traditionally sluggish markets.
DMI's architecture spans the entire asset lifecycle—issuance, tokenization, distribution, and post-trade processes—replacing paper-based systems with distributed ledger transparency. The exchange emphasized interoperability between blockchain networks and legacy financial infrastructure during the rollout.
MembersCap and digital asset firm Archax executed the platform's maiden deal, a primary fundraise for MCM Fund 1. This transaction represents a watershed moment as the first to occur on a regulated exchange's native blockchain system, signaling institutional willingness to adopt distributed ledger technology for traditional finance workflows.
